Week 6 Discussion: Reflection on Nursing Assessment for Violence

The individual population I take care of today is mainly geriatric of all the areas of life. The patients of mine tend to be intubated, sedated, and not able to provide truthful responses to the abuse questions of mine. Most have been nonverbal to start with because of different stages of dementia, stroke, and some other brain damage. Thus, when I look at the body of theirs for an evaluation I notice all wounds, bruises, scars, no matter the healing stage of theirs.
