Introduction
Based on the scenario given in Assessment 1, you are now presented with some dilemmas on your project (to build your dream home):
• You are having difficulties in agreeing the home design/ layout with your partner as well as the inclusion to the home (luxury versus standard kitchen, electrical appliances, flooring etc)
• As such, you are delaying the discussion with the chosen builder to obtain their final cost estimation. The builder is asking you to quickly decide to take advantage of their current promotion (free 5kW solar energy system) which will end soon.
• You may lose the eligibility to apply for the Keystart program (https://www.keystart.com.au/) as your partner’s salary is due for significant increment. Your combined income will be above the threshold limit for couples which will mean that you will not be able to apply anymore.

This assessment item requires you to work in a group (no more than 3 students).
Your tasks
Your partner and you will have to decide on the way forward for this initiative:
Answer the following questions:
1. Discuss how you would handle the conflict with:
a) your partner and
b) the builder
Explain in detail your conflict management strategy for both the above stakeholders.
2. Select one leadership style and explain in detail how you would successfully manage this project to completion.
3. Explain how you would use the Seven Quality Control (7 QC) tools and techniques to help you manage this project. (You must demonstrate the application of these tools in relation to this project. You may also propose other tools and techniques that you have learned from this unit).
4. Prepare a risk management strategy for this project. You must identify all risk and explain your strategy to manage each of the risk

In situations that involve multiple people, conflicts are always bound to arise. The causes of differences between individuals can range from philosophical diversities and varying goals to power imbalances. Conflicts that are poorly managed often result in the generation of a breakdown in trust between individuals and lost productivity (Bercovitch, 2019). In the present case of establishing a dream home, it will be important that there the cohesion of efforts between different stakeholders. Both partners must have a mutual understanding of the project and engage their builder on a common level of viewing the undertaking. Constant differences between key stakeholders will most probably result in the collapse of the project and in the end, the dream home may fail to be established.
