Social insurance programs provide benefits upon the occurrence of certain insured events such as unemployment insurance provides benefits if a person becomes insured due to unemployment. Other benefits such as Social Security, Medicare, Workers Compensation, Disability Insurance are also part of the United Stated insurance programs. These benefits are administered by the government and are funded through payroll taxes.
