This post has two parts. Please read and do a little research on each before your initial post and replying to classmates

The first part:

Considering how much the role of nursing has changed over history, how do you foresee the role of nursing changing in the next 5 years? 10 years? 25 years?

Topics to consider:

• The role of LPN’s vs. RN’s vs. Nurse Practitioner’s.
• The minimum nursing degree required (diploma/ADN/BSN/MSN/DNP) to practice as a nurse.
• Environments where each type of nurse (LPN/RN/NP) can practice clinically.

And the second part:

Everywhere we go, whether we are conscious of it or not, we encounter images of nursing. Television commercials, television shows, magazines, movies, books all influence the public’s perception of nursing. Year after year nursing is voted the “most trusted profession” but it seems most people do not fully understand what nurses do. Please consider the following questions:

• What was your own perception of nursing from your earliest recollection?
• How often have you said you were “just a nurse”?
• Has anyone commented that you should have been a doctor because you are “so smart”?
• Are you proud to be a nurse?
