The most probable diagnosis is a geriatric anxiety disorder that primarily affects the elderly. Based on the objective findings from the case study, the patient exhibited fear, worry, social disengagement, and sleep problems consistent with the symptoms of geriatric anxiety (Zhang et al., 2018). The condition is characterized by fear of abandonment, unwillingness to engage in activities such as walking and interactions, worry about family, anxiety, and prolonged feelings of loneliness.
Another differential diagnosis could be posttraumatic stress which influences the ability of the elderly to deal with life events and stress.
